The Wallach Art Gallery presents Allan Sekula: Fish Story (1988–1995), the magnum opus of major American photographer and writer Allan Sekula (1951–2013), known for marrying documentary-style photography with theoretical essays on photography and social, economic, and political issues. About A rare opportunity to experience this seminal work in its full nine-chapters, Fish Story documents maritime landscapes and the transformations wrought by containerized international cargo shipping. The exhibition, organized by the Walker Art Center, contrasts the reality of the alienation of workers in the globalized shipping trade with romanticized views of seafaring culture and community in the popular imagination.
