RSVPDuring Lisbon Art Weekend, Atelier Concorde will present an exhibition in performative evolution, featuring some of its artists: Catarina Simão, Eunice Gonçalves Duarte, Fernando Marante, Inês Teles, Irit Batsry, Lior Eshel, Lorenz Igle, Natalie Woolf, Pedro Faria and Tiago Rocha Costa (infos on each artist at www.atelierconcorde.org). Instead of presenting fixed and permanent objects throughout the weekend, the artists will explore their mutable states by altering installations, replacing elements and testing new configurations in response to the space and visitors. Artworks will move between studios and our exhibition space, underlining the dual nature of Atelier Concorde: a building with creative areas and a white-cube gallery. We aim to transform the exhibition into a live laboratory, laying bare processes of decision making. This performative approach treats the exhibition as a living organic structure, exposing the process through which meaning is produced and reconfigured. Visitors will encounter a shifting constellation that reveals artistic practice as dialogue and negotiation, aiming at a state of active attention as both witnesses and participants. The permanent documentation of the process during LAW will play a central role, with each record being simultaneously proof of a past existence and of the impossibility of its full reinstatement. This is underlined by the title 8/7/6/5 (LAW dates in reverse order) that suggesting an archaeology of mutability: each configuration will be discovered retrospectively, revealing traces partially preserved and partially erased by the next transformation.
