RegisterHear Zineb Sedira speak about her major new commission for Tate Britain, her largest UK project to date
Created in response to the neo-classical Duveen Galleries at the heart of Tate Britain, the work engages directly with the site’s history and architecture. Unveiled just one day before this talk, audiences will have the opportunity to view the installation and hear directly from the artist. Sedira will speak about her process, wider practice and how she approached transforming the Duveen Galleries. She will also reflect on what it meant to take on this historic space, keeping the weight of its past alive while bringing it into dialogue with the Pan-African experience. This talk will be moderated by Bilal Akkouche, Assistant Curator of International Art with an introduction from Jessica Vaughan, Curator, Contemporary British Art. Zineb Sedira's Commission will be open to view from 18.30 with the talk starting at 19.00. This talk will be followed by a Q&A.
