ASSIDUOUS brings together a diverse range of artistic practices exploring identity, memory, the body, belonging and our relationship with the world around us. Through sculpture, painting, photography, installation and material experimentation, the artists examine the complexities of personal experience and the ways in which meaning emerges through observation, reflection and transformation. Across the exhibition, familiar forms and everyday encounters become sites of enquiry. Bodies are fragmented and reimagined; objects shift between function and abstraction; memories persist through fading traces, while mythology and cultural histories offer alternative ways of understanding identity. Some works turn inward, confronting questions of self-perception and belonging, while others draw attention to the social and environmental conditions that shape our lives. The works resist singular interpretations. Materials carry histories, forms hold contradictions, and seemingly ordinary details invite closer inspection. What is visible may conceal as much as it reveals, while what initially appears unfamiliar can become a point of recognition. Through these shifting perspectives, the exhibition considers how our understanding of ourselves and others is continually formed, challenged and revised. ASSIDUOUS suggests a commitment to the process of looking, making and questioning. It acknowledges that understanding rarely arrives all at once; rather, it develops through sustained attention, repeated encounters and a willingness to remain with uncertainty. The works invite viewers to move beyond first impressions, to consider the relationships between things, and to recognise the significance of details that might otherwise be overlooked. Together, the artists create a space for contemplation and discovery, where individual perspectives meet without necessarily resolving into a single narrative.
