The School of Radical Attention will be IN RESIDENCY at the National Academy of Design from March 31st to April 25th. **This residency takes place off-site at the National Academy of Design (519 W 26th St 2nd floor, New York, NY 10001), NOT at SoRA's DUMBO space.** Kicking off SoRA’s monthlong residency at the National Academy of Design, join us for our opening party from 6 to 8pm on Tuesday, March 31st! We will reawaken various “attentional prosthetics” traditionally found in school environments, and transform their severity into severeness with fierce ballroom performers Rinor Zymberi, Caleb Thomas, and Prince Carhuajulca. We'll host workshops, seminars, and a series of hour-long workshops inspired by a pantheon of pedagogical thinkers including Simone Weil, Augusto Boal, and Bayo Akomolafe. Full program schedule and sign up links can be found here: https://www.schoolofattention.org/art-programs “Future Schools” is a bold, three-part project–a dynamic exhibition, a live performance series, and an active curriculum of workshops and talks–that actively enacts alternative models for art education. It features new commissions by Ad Minoliti, Christian Nyampeta, and WAI Think Tank (Cruz Garcia and Nathalie Frankowski) and a chalkboard drawing by Chloë Bass. In addition to these programs, Future Schools will host LA ESCUELA___, the Strother School of Radical Attention, and the School for Poetic Computation for classes during the exhibition. “Future Schools” is curated by Natalia Viera Salgado, Associate Curator, and Nato Thompson, Guest Curator, with programmatic support from Frank Dallas.
