RegisterA group exhibition exploring clay, plaster, pigment, and abstraction through material-based practices by Adam Weismann, Alexandre Clanis, Alberto Ruiz Villar, and Jordi Artigas.
Matiz Gallery presents BASPcr Table II – Material Encounter , a group exhibition exploring the relationship between material, surface, and process through contemporary abstraction. Bringing together works by Adam Weismann (Claymoon), Alexandre Clanis, Alberto Ruiz Villar, and Jordi Artigas, the exhibition focuses on practices rooted in clay, plaster, pigment, repetition, gesture, and layered construction. At the centre of the exhibition, Adam Weismann’s unfired clay panels draw on compression, stratification, and vernacular building techniques, foregrounding the physical logic of how surfaces are made. In dialogue with this material presence, Jordi Artigas approaches the pictorial plane through gesture and fluid mark-making; Alexandre Clanis develops large-scale works on industrial supports through repetition and chromatic rhythm; and Alberto Ruiz Villar builds layered compositions in which acrylic and plaster become structure, texture, and image at once. Part of the BASPcr framework, the exhibition reflects Matiz Gallery’s broader interest in process-based practices and in dialogue between local and international artistic positions. On opening night, Friday 27 March 2026 at 7 PM, the exhibition will also host a small curated encounter bringing together invited guests from art, architecture, design, and local cultural institutions. BASPcr is a cultural laboratory initiated by Matiz Gallery in the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera neighbourhood of Barcelona, where exhibitions become tools for intercultural exchange and territorial activation.
