RegisterWhat language cannot translate is a solo exhibition by Zhifang Tang exploring memory, displacement, and language through calligraphy, where writing becomes image and a space for shared interpretation.
What language cannot translate is a solo exhibition by Zhifang Tang exploring memory, displacement, and the space in between languages and cultures. Presented by MINERVA at the Fédération ASIEMUT in Paris, the exhibition takes place within a site dedicated to language learning and migrant support, where diverse trajectories intersect daily. Through calligraphy, Tang transforms writing into gesture and image. Her ink works on rice paper invite viewers to engage with characters beyond their literal meaning, opening a space for interpretation, projection, and shared experience. In this context, language emerges as a threshold — a place of transition where new forms of expression and belonging can take shape.
