RSVP"Where Light Allows" – Solo Exhibition by Raquel Amorim About Raquel Amorim (Lisbon, 2005) is a visual artist working across painting, object, and installation. She is currently undertaking a BA in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. The artist has participated in several biennials, receiving honourable mentions, and recently won the award in the painting category at the National Exhibition of Young Creators (Mostra Nacional de Jovens Criadores). “In this exhibition, light functions as that which determines what is seen and what is not seen. It is not about creating an aesthetic environment, but about conditioning perception: depending on where the visitor stands, the experience changes. Each work was conceived to be experienced individually. The space is fragmented in such a way as to prevent a total view, compelling a path in which the pieces are discovered one by one. Ultimately, there is no single reading. Each person moves through the exhibition differently, according to their movement, the time they spend, and what they are or are not able to see. Although the work originates in painting, it expands into space. Light, planes, and materials operate as extensions of this logic - not merely to show something, but to construct conditions of perception.”
