Common: Art of the Folk Exhibition

Art of the Folk is an exhibition that doubles as a community arts space, exploring the relevance of folklore and mythmaking in the modern world, including how folk practices can be used as a means for people to respond to natural and political landscapes and to generate community. About Common is a Leeds-based grassroots arts project, co-produced by Rachel 'Rat' Prince and Ivy St Clair, which aims to open a dialogue about the relevance, promise and power of folk practice in the present day. Common put on free events, aiming to creative inclusive and politically-engaged folk spaces which cultivate community. The exhibition The Art of the Folk will include live performance art, a commissioned video installation, artwork from the local community, participatory art stations and spaces for rest. The opening event is on Thursday 12th November 6-9pm, with performances throughout the night. Tickets, with an optional donation, should be pre-booked via the linktree. The exhibition will remain open to the public to drop in from 12-6pm Friday 13th - Sunday 15th November.
