Delusions // Varvara Liakounakou Solo Show

MOMO Athens gallery presents Varvara Liakounakou’s solo exhibition, titled “DELUSIONS // In the Arena of the World.” About Varvara Liakounakou’s artistic practice focuses on human existence as a realm of relationship and interaction, with the human body serving as a site where the desire for connection meets the inability to achieve it - a space for the struggle to communicate and exist within a fragile and often uncanny world. Human vulnerability has become palpable through the body’s constant exposure to the other, to desire and loss, to matter, and ultimately to the world one has created, as well as the self. Human existence is not approached as a totality or an integral unit, but rather as part of a complex web where people and things dwell in silence and coexist in a state of incompleteness. Forms seem to hover between life and decay, between creation and destruction - struggling, collaborating, and grappling in a space where they are simultaneously spectators and protagonists, within the arena of the world.
