Elisa Azevedo: A Kind of Resemblance

In A Kind of Resemblance, Elisa Azevedo brings into proximity the body, botanical elements, intimate objects and fragments of everyday life through a logic of unstable associations and projections. About Moving between recognition and estrangement, freedom and taboo, simplicity and exuberance, the artist’s images evoke both the material and affective traces carried by forms, as though each thing held within itself the possibility of resembling another, or the memory of such a desire, opening fissures in what appears familiar in order to uncover ambiguities that remain in constant negotiation. Bringing together earlier works and new pieces conceived specifically for Salto’s space, the project also marks an expansion and unfolding of Elisa Azevedo’s practice, exploring new relationships of scale, materiality and modes of presenting images.
