Frankenthaler / Judd

From 26 September 2026 to 10 January 2027, Kunsthal KAdE in Amersfoort will be hosting an exhibition featuring works by Helen Frankenthaler and Donald Judd. About Artists Helen Frankenthaler (1928–2011) and Donald Judd (1928–1994) are two influential figures from post-war New York, each of whom forged their own path within abstract art. The exhibition highlights their differences: free form versus austere visual language, intuition versus reason, and underappreciated and rarely collected versus popular and widely acquired in the Netherlands. Yet there are also subtle similarities to be discovered in their use of colour, form and plane. In the second half of the 20th century, Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism were major art movements. KAdE presents both movements side by side and illustrates how art has evolved. Read more Toggle Sculpture Painting Mixed media
