RSVPFive Japanese contemporary artists at GALLERY CURU, Bangkok. "From here. From human." presents works only human hands can make in the age of AI. About PLACZ Group and GALLERY CURU present FROM@N 2026 in Bangkok., a group exhibition of five Japanese contemporary artists. The title joins two phrases: "From here." and "From human." In an age when AI is reshaping the world, the exhibition focuses on what only people can make — worlds of their own, and works that move someone's heart. Taking Bangkok as its starting point, it hopes to carry these artists and their work across Asia and beyond. Mami Yamasaki paints city nightscapes and architecture in acrylic and watercolour, depicting the border between reality and fiction where the figurative and the abstract meet. Ryohei Yamashita portrays samurai and athletes with dynamic brushwork under the concept of "Energism," and created the public art at Gaienmae Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. Tomoro Yamanaka's "Urukami" series renders black hair in a single brushstroke, expressing the grace and the hidden darkness within people; he has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo and Kyoto, including Ginza Mitsukoshi in 2024. Akitoshi Akamatsu has exhibited at art fairs in Japan and abroad, including SCOPE Basel 2012, ART SG 2024 (Kaikai Kiki Gallery booth) and Art Fair Tokyo. Tetsuji Aoyama took up his late father's dream of becoming a painter and began painting on his own at 42; his "LOVE AND PEACE" works have sold out at most of his solo and group shows. GALLERY CURU was opened in July 2023 by Japanese members inside Warehouse 30, Bangkok's arts hub. It has held more than 30 exhibitions featuring more than 100 artists from many countries.
