RSVPA group exhibition featuring painting, drawing, photography, and ceramics from Samuel Burgess, Joanna Weller, Sarah Hyde, Aleks Binduga, and Aleksandra Niemczyk. About Introducing an exciting group of works from local and Blackheath Art Society--affiliated artists who will work closely with the gallery in 2027. The gallery is open 10-5, Friday to Saturday, a 10-minute walk over the heath from Greenwich Park or a 12 minute train ride from London Bridge to Blackheath. The artists Samuel Burgess is a self-taught artist based in London. Working mainly in oils and graphite, the highly detailed urban scenes that he creates convey an atmosphere of a time and place without fixating on photorealism. Sam’s work seeks to evoke a fleeting moment within a space that feels lived in yet otherworldly. 📸 @artofsamb Sarah Hyde creates thrown and hand-built functional shapes, vases, jugs, and bowls. She uses a range of different clay bodies, such as stoneware, crank, and porcelain with a focus on aesthetic form rather than function. Her recent ceramic series is based on the dramatic landscape of sea cliffs formed by erosion and weathering from hard rock, such as granite and sandstone, and softer rock, such as clay and shale, creating strata or layers. The work is inspired by visits to Cornwall, Northumberland, and the Greek Islands. Sarah also makes and sells functional ceramic work as part of a craft collective, the Hill Trader, based in Telegraph Hill. She is a member of Blackheath Art Society, exhibiting regularly since she joined in 2015, and is also a member of Greenwich Open Studios. 📸 @sarahhydeceramics Aleks Binduga is a Polish-born, London-based photographer whose work spans street and travel photography, and commercial projects. Born and raised in southeastern Poland, near the Ukrainian border and at the foothills of the Bieszczady Mountains, Aleks grew up in a region shaped by the coexistence of different cultures, traditions and histories. Although she works with both digital and analogue photography, film remains her preferred medium and the foundation of her personal artistic practice. Drawn to the rawness and the unrefined beauty, she has a particular interest in textures, contrasts, forms and imperfections. Aleks sees her photographs as fragments of larger stories. Individually, each image preserves a moment in time, a single paragraph of a story. Together, they form a narrative that extends beyond the individual frame, leaving space for interpretation and stories of their own. The works presented are selected from her photographic archive, with each available as a unique, one-of-five analogue print. 📸 @binduga Aleksandra Niemczyk is an abstract painter living and working in Blackheath/Greenwich, London. Respecting the great non-figurative modernists of the past, Niemczyk is dedicated to abstract expressionism based on “organic geometry” and colour theory. She composes complex, emotionally resonant colour arrangements that evoke wonder through their apparent simplicity. In her present work, Niemczyk investigates patinas of time, the fading threads of visual memory, and the recording of tactile experiences in the unconscious layers of our perception. Niemczyk’s formal training includes an MA in Fine Arts (Painting and Lithography) and MA in Film Directing from Béla Tarr’s radical film.factory program in Sarajevo. She exhibits internationally and her works feature in many private and public art collections, among them Focus Bank and Louis Vuitton Art Collection in Oslo, Norway. Recently, her works were presented at The Mall Galleries, London, during the Royal Society of British Artists 200th Anniversary Exhibition. 📸 @niemczykaleks Joanna Weller studied art at Brighton Polytechnic and Printed & Woven Textiles at Leicester. She subsequently studied art psychotherapy at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Joanna has Awards from the Royal Society of Arts and the Guild of Craftsmen, and is a member of BAS. London exhibitions include Inside Job at the Tate Modern, Mall Galleries, Lewisham Arthouse, and Galleria Peckham. "My art practice draws from my love of being outdoors, in the garden, walking in the countryside and along the Thames foreshore. My experience as an Art Therapist allows me to embrace the accidental and to explore imagery and ideas through my work." -Joanna Weller 📸 joannamweller Read more Toggle Sculpture Photography Crafts Prints Drawing Painting
