The Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival Exhibition features 30 artists painting the autumn landscape at various historic sites. Opening with an awards reception Sunday, Oct. 10, the artworks remain on view through November 8, 2026. About The 10th annual Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival returns from October 6 to 11, 2026, offering a vibrant celebration of art, nature, and history. Hosted by the Wallkill River Center for the Arts (WRCA) in Montgomery, NY, this milestone edition aligns with the nation’s 250th anniversary and spotlights the region's rich architectural and natural heritage. Over six days, 30 selected artists will immerse themselves in the scenic autumn landscapes, setting up easels at designated historic sites like the Hill-Hold and Brick House Museums. Spectators can watch the creative process unfold in real time through scheduled paint-outs, live demonstrations, and fast-paced quick draw challenges. The festival provides a unique opportunity for art lovers to interact directly with creators and witness the local landscape captured on canvas. The event culminates on Sunday, October 11, with an Artists' Reception and Awards Ceremony featuring over $1,500 in prizes. Following the festival, the completed masterpieces will be showcased in a public exhibition at the WRCA Galleries from October 11 through November 8, 2026. This inspiring autumn tradition continues to connect the community with the enduring legacy of Hudson Valley landscape painting.
