“In Motion – Moving Matters” presents 20 artistic perspectives on movement as change, transition, rhythm and connection—exploring visible and invisible forms of movement. About Movement is one of the fundamental experiences of our lives. It is not only physical movement, but also manifests itself in inner processes, personal change and the transitions that shape our lives. Movement can make time visible, connect past, present and future, or emerge through the changing seasons and the interplay of the elements of nature. It can mark transitions, create tension, or bring seemingly opposing forces together. With its open call “In Motion – Moving Matters,” Galerie Kungerkiez invited artists for the first time to explore the diverse meanings and interpretations of this theme. More than 200 artists submitted their work, from which the volunteer gallery team selected 20 artistic positions for this multifaceted group exhibition. The selected works differ in style, medium and genre, offering a wide range of perspectives on the theme. The artists approach movement as change, process, transition, rhythm and relationship. Movement becomes tangible as a visible physical experience as well as an inner, social or temporal process. The exhibition shows that movement does not necessarily mean speed or visible dynamism. It can also reside in stillness, in a moment of transition, in the tension between two poles, or in a subtle change that only becomes perceptible at second glance.
