RSVPBritish artist Jeremy Gardiner presents new paintings inspired by the Lake District, exploring the relationship between art, geology and time, at London’s Portland Gallery from 21 October to 6 November 2026. About Rather than simply depicting nature, Gardiner seeks to reveal the invisible forces that shape the landscape and the emotional response it evokes. In his works, mountains, lakes and waterfalls are reinterpreted through successive layers of paint, relief and expressive colours, in compositions that move between figurative representation and abstraction. The new series takes as its starting point the region of Cumbria, in northwest England, known for the beauty of its mountainous terrain and the presence of some of the country’s most celebrated lakes, including Windermere and Ullswater. Through his exploration of these landscapes, Gardiner combines scientific observation, geological research and a deeply personal perception of nature. Read more Toggle Painting
