This exhibition explores the space between looking and knowing: figures caught mid-thought, cities half-dissolved into memory. Working in monochrome photography, Larissa Kouznetsova layers illusion and reality until the boundary between them softens. About Award-winning London-based fine art photographer Larissa Kouznetsova presents Half Seen, Half Remembered, an exhibition exploring the relationship between memory, perception and the passage of time through monochrome photography. Born in the USSR and based in London for over three decades, Larissa brings to photographya visual language shaped by her background in theatre, television and film. Her images inhabit the space between the seen and the remembered, transforming everyday moments into something both familiar and elusive, where the ordinary takes on new emotional resonance. Working with both in-camera multiple exposure and traditional single-exposure photography, Larissa creates images where different moments appear to exist simultaneously. Constructed entirely within the camera, without digital manipulation, these works hold the feeling of memories resurfacing — incomplete, layered and elusive. Landscapes, architecture and human figures are transformed into reflections of memory, identity and the traces left by time. Half Seen, Half Remembered examines the way memories are formed, altered and carried with us over time. Figures appear suspended between presence and absence; spaces, structures and silhouettes become fragments of moments that may be remembered, imagined or somewhere in between. The works offer a space for reflection, where meanings emerge through experiences and ways of seeing. Larissa has exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally. Her work has received recognition from the International Annual Photography Awards, Tokyo International Foto Awards, Budapest International Foto Awards and Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3), among others.
