Lawrence Perry: 'Careless Rapture'

Lawrence Perry: ‘Careless Rapture’ About LBF Contemporary is pleased to announce Lawrence Perry's second solo exhibition with the gallery, ‘Careless Rapture.’ In this new body of work the artist reflects on the emotional contradiction of nostalgia - the impossibility of fully recapturing the dazzling immediacy of an experience once it had passed, and the lingering desire to try. The title is borrowed from Robert Browning's Home-Thoughts, from Abroad: "Lest you should think he never could recapture, the first fine careless rapture." The lines struck Perry not only as an expression of longing, but as a question: is it ever possible to relive the catharsis of something truly new, or are we forever looking back at the last time we remembered it?
