RSVPAn evening of dance as part of SDS’ 20th anniversary celebrations. Five artists: Sheri King, Akeim Toussaint Buck, Subathra Subramaniam, Jules Cunningham and Charlie Morrissey are remaking Siobhan Davies’ Sphinx (1977) over five days. About Living Image is taking place over the course of four ‘chapters’ between July 2026 – July 2027. Twenty artists have been invited to deconstruct, dismantle, and reclaim movement traditions in a project that dis/honours Siobhan Davies’ original work and pushes against the edges of how dance is archived, remembered, and celebrated. These new/old works celebrate different practices, experiences and perspectives that have shaped and will continue to shape the Studios over the last two decades, the next 20 years and way beyond. This project is more than just a celebration of 20 years of SDS. It’s a radical rethinking of how we relate to legacy in the dance sector and is an expansion of our Artist Archive programme, which challenges the value systems surrounding what archive and legacy building can be.
