Miranda Donovan- Between Order & Chaos

Between Order and Chaos presents textured paintings and mixed-media works by Miranda Donovan at London Art Exchange. Inspired by weathered walls, Donovan layers paint, text and architectural materials to explore memory, imperfection and the balance between structure and disorder. About Between Order and Chaos: The Art of Miranda Donovan brings together richly textured paintings and mixed-media works exploring memory, transformation and the beauty of imperfection. Inspired by ancient stonework and weathered urban walls, the British-Dutch artist treats surfaces as records of human experience. She layers paint, text and architectural materials, repeatedly sanding back and rebuilding to reveal traces of what came before. Her unconventional materials include reclaimed stable doors and antique leather encyclopaedia covers inherited from her grandfather. Featuring Portal and Aquatic Dreams, the exhibition draws on Donovan’s upbringing between London, the Netherlands and Gozo. Through expressive colour and sculptural textures, her works explore the tensions between permanence and decay, fragility and strength, structure and disorder. At London Art Exchange, Donovan invites visitors to look again at everyday surfaces and discover the histories they hold. Read more Toggle Drawing Prints Painting
