About event

Join us for an afternoon picnic to celebrate the launch of Muse Magazine's Issue 2: Bittersweet Escape! This launch party will take place on the stolen land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of Country. Always was, always will be Indigenous land. Join us for the launch of Muse Magazine's Issue 2: Bittersweet Escape , featuring the works of Sydney's brightest young creatives. This was our first foray into the world of themed magazines, with Bittersweet Escape endeavouring to give you the same feeling that an artsy tumblr quote about love would, or seeing a cat that you can't pet, or seeing Calibri instead of Aptos. This issue has been a labour of love and patience, so we are incredibly excited to share it with you in a way that matches the theme of Bittersweet Escape ... with a picnic! WHAT TO EXPECT... This event is being hosted on the Chippendale Green. The Chippendale Green is located right behind Central Park Mall. There are a few patches of green in the area, and if you're confused about which is the right one, Chippendale Green is the largest of the greens by a long shot (this will hopefully become clearer when you are in the area). 4 o'clock is not a strict start, nor is 6 o'clock a strict end (when do picnics ever have defined times?) so don't be too worried about rocking up "late"! Especially since maybe a dinner is on the table for any stragglers... When you arrive, make your way over to one of the Muses (we will have name tags on the day to help you identify us) and we'll get you ticked off on attendance, and give you your magazine copy! If you would like to purchase a magazine copy (or additional copies), find a Muse, and we'll direct you to the appropriate person(s). Further information on magazine purchasing is available below in TICKETS. This is a very relaxed event, come have a chat, gush about how cool all our creatives' works are, and meet some like-minded people! WHAT TO BRING... Note that there is no expectation that you bring all of these items, only the first is mandatory 🤭 Yourself <3 A friend! (make sure they reserve a spot 😉) A picnic blanket, if you have one. A snack to share! ACCESS AND TRANSPORT You can access this space via the street. The park is wheelchair accessible. If you have any relevant allergies, please note that this is a dog-friendly park. The closest bathrooms are located inside Central Park Mall, which is a 1 minute walk from the venue. 8 minutes walking distance from Central Station. 8 minutes walking distance from Broadway Shopping Centre, which has 2 hours free parking. TICKETS Your ticket includes 1x magazine copy , and the price of the ticket covers the cost of magazine production. Tickets are subject to eventbrite's fees, so if you would like to avoid these fees, message us on Instagram (@musemagsyd) or email us at musemagsyd@gmail.com to organise alternative payments. Entry to the event itself is free, again, please contact us via the above avenues to reserve a spot for yourself if you do not want a magazine. You can also purchase magazines on the day, in-person. Card payments will have a 1.1% surchage. Cash payments accepted. Art featured in Cover Image is Midnight Rain by Alycia Lipovac (@art.andalycia on Instagram).
