RSVPNEMOTA brings together Oleg Prokofiev, Igor Ominin, Meg Shirayama and Eddie McLean Kaye. Named after Prokofiev’s poem I Like the Music of the Spheres, the exhibition explores communication beyond words through colour, form, material, space and sound. About Presented within Prokofiev Studio, a space dedicated to the Prokofiev family archive and contemporary artistic exchange, the exhibition connects historical work with living practice. The studio’s combination of archival material, exhibition spaces and a working music studio offers a setting in which visual art, sound and the character of the building can inform one another. Curated by Anzhela Popova, studio curator, and Jo Martin, with Gail Corrie as scenographer, NEMOTA brings together distinct practices within a shared spatial experience. A collaborative soundtrack, created with contributions from the artists and others involved in the project, will play throughout the exhibition, extending the dialogue between the works into sound. Through this meeting of archive, contemporary art, architecture and music, NEMOTA considers how artistic ideas continue to move between people, places and disciplines, creating new connections across time.
