Painted with Light – Experiments in Still-life Photography

An exhibition by local wildlife photographer Ed Phillips. Following retirement, Ed decided to look for additional photographic challenges, opting for still-life photography. Ed has long been inspired by still-life paintings, ranging from those of the Dutch “Golden Age” through to the work of more contemporary artists. Researching the topic, he encountered an article advocating the use of “light-painting” techniques to illuminate still-life compositions. Ed then spent several years developing a light-painting method of his own, that would produce the “look” he was seeking. This exhibition displays examples of his still-life artwork.
