Paraíso, Hoje.

A critical exploration of contemporaneity as paradise, examining how advanced technologies coexist with inequality and resource exploitation in contemporary Portugal. About The project Paraíso, hoje. critically explores contemporaneity as "paradise", considering that we live in the best conditions ever, driven by advanced technologies. However, inequality and the rampant exploitation of resources coexist – a paradoxical paradise where evolution and inequality collide. In Portugal, paradise is often symbolized by beaches and coastal landscapes, but this reality includes urban pressures, speculation, and overtourism, while the country's inland regions face a sharp demographic loss. Portugal's Official Representation at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition — La Biennale di Venezia 2025 now arrives at MAC/CCB. Offering a critical reflection on the relationships between architecture, landscape, and territory in contemporary Portugal, the project adopts the notion of "paradise" as a metaphor through which to think about the present. Situated between utopia and dystopia, nature and construction, reality and simulation, the exhibition brings together an interactive digital installation and an atlas of images and texts exploring different ways of inhabiting, transforming, and imagining the landscape. Opening Wednesday, November 4, at the Architecture Centre 7:00pm – Opening of the exhibition 8:00pm – Vinyl Launch + Performance by Jorge Queijo During the opening, Jorge Queijo, creator of the soundscape for Paradise, Today., presents a performance inspired by the atmospheres and transforming territories that emerge throughout the installation.
