RegisterLearn more about our fascinating portraits in this new guided tour. Join us at the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum for Portraits in Focus, a fascinating tour led by Sarah Dale that delves into the remarkable 18th-century portraits currently on display. Through close observation and engaging storytelling, Sarah will bring these works to life, exploring who the sitters were, the artists who painted them, and the intriguing personal and historical stories behind each portrait. This tour offers a unique opportunity to look beyond the canvas and gain deeper insight into the people, artistry, and society of the 18th century. Tickets cost £6 per person. Pre-booking is essential, spaces are limited. Please note – this event is not suitable for children under the age of 14. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The event will be held across the five floors of the museum, accessible only by stairs. Due to the building’s Grade I listed status, we are unable to install a lift or ramp, widen doorways, or modify the handrails. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
