RSVPForest of Mononoke is a sculptural installation of light and shadow with live performance, inviting you to step into an uncertain world of forces beyond ourselves and encounter what lies within. About In Forest of Mononoke, Saki Sonoda invites us to step into an uncertain world of forces beyond ourselves and encounter what lies within. Sonoda's glowing, vibrantly-colored 3D sculptures reimagine the spirits of Japanese folklore called mononoke, and enlivens them through flickering light and shadow-play projections across the walls. On select evenings, multidisciplinary performer Peter Mercury embodies the story of one person who finds themselves between the human and mononoke worlds, facing Madness, Desire, and Death to accept them and go on living. Gallery hours: Thu–Sun, noon–6pm, free. Through November 22. Live performances (doors 7:30pm / show 8–9pm), pay-what-you-wish, registration required: Wed Nov 11, Fri Nov 13, Sun Nov 15, Sun Nov 22. Closing party Sat Nov 21, 7pm (no performance). Register at https://saki.work/forest-of-mononoke Forest of Mononoke by Saki Sonoda, in collaboration with Peter Mercury and Nozomu Shoji.
