RSVPSuave es la noche explores the rave and the club as spaces of collective experience, freedom and protest. Bringing together works made between 2020 and 2026, Gala Knörr transforms references from rave culture, music and art history into painting, textile and drawing. About Suave es la noche brings together works made between 2020 and 2026, combining key pieces from Gala Knörr’s ongoing research into club culture and rave with new works developed during periods spent in London, Antwerp, Bilbao and Ibiza. The exhibition explores the elasticity of painting through references drawn from rave culture, music history and art history, tracing the relationship between partying and protest, collective experience and temporary forms of community. The research began with a 2019 recording of the People’s Vote March in London, which became Alodoxafobia, a video work in which the protest transforms into an improvised rave in Trafalgar Square. Knörr connects this moment with Freedom to Party, a protest held in the same location thirty years earlier against restrictions on the right to dance under Margaret Thatcher’s government. Across painting, batik, textile and drawing, the exhibition revisits episodes and images from the history of rave, from Castlemorton and the Second Summer of Love to the Belgian club scene and the golden age of Ibiza nightlife. These references are transformed into a visual language where historical memory, celebration and resistance intersect. Read more Toggle Drawing Mixed media Film / Video Painting Installation
