About In her solo show The Flag Bearers, Rachel Monosov presents a series of newly commissioned sculptural works and a performance, inspired by the paintings of Edgar Ende. The Flag Bearers is chapter seven of the project Becoming B and curated by Jorgina Stamogianni. Drawing on Surrealism as a movement that developed in the aftermath of the First World War, Rachel Monosov explores how dream imagery, symbolic displacement, and the subconscious can reveal both inner and societal conflicts and traumas. More than a century after the emergence of the Surrealist movement, the exhibition reflects on nationalism, war, and the cyclical nature of history, while diving deep into the collective unconscious of today.
