RSVPAn invitation to engage with azulejo threading as a living, embodied practice. Limited places. About Project DNA Atelier sessions invite participants to engage directly with broken Portuguese azulejo fragments through a stitching methodology developed by artist Serra Behar. Working with ceramic fragments, thread, and simple hand tools, participants learn how individual pieces can be reconnected into new collective forms. Each session combines hands-on making with conversation, reflection, and shared exchange in a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Lasting approximately 2–3 hours, the atelier encourages a slow, attentive process where care, repair, and collaboration become part of the artistic act itself. Conceived as an extension of Project DNA: Restitching Memory, the atelier offers an open invitation to participate in the symbolic reconstruction of cultural memory. Through the act of stitching broken azulejos, participants contribute to a growing collective artwork that explores identity, belonging, transformation, and coexistence. Depending on the session, the experience may be enriched by contributions from invited historians, researchers, conservators, and restoration specialists, offering deeper insights into the cultural, historical, and material significance of azulejos. Workshops may also include documentary screenings, archival materials, visual presentations, or educational videos that broaden the conversation and connect the stitching process to wider themes of heritage, memory, conservation, and cultural transmission. The workshops are open to everyone regardless of age, background, or artistic experience. No prior knowledge of ceramics, restoration, or art-making is required.
