RSVPUNDER THE LID is a solo exhibition by Lyuda Kalinichenko, transforming the gallery's façade and interior into a family keepsake chest filled with childhood memories, treasured objects and stories. About What do we keep, and what do the things we keep remember? In UNDER THE LID, London-based artist Lyuda Kalinichenko transforms the façade and interior of Out House Gallery into a life-sized family keepsake chest, inviting visitors to step inside a world of childhood memories, treasured objects and personal stories. The exhibition is inspired by a small wooden chest decorated with straw marquetry, made by the artist's great-grandfather over a century ago. Passed down through generations, it once held her grandmother's toys, later her mother's cosmetics, and eventually became a keeper of the artist's own memories. Through large-scale textile installations and sculptural objects, Kalinichenko explores how ordinary possessions carry personal and collective histories, connecting generations across time and distance. The exhibition reflects on memory, displacement and the emotional significance of objects we carry into new lives. For the opening night, perfume house EX IDOLO has created a bespoke scent inspired by memories of the family chest. Another scent is hidden inside one of the artist's sculptures.
